First place at Silverstone!

Terry Rymer and Geoff Lister had a great weekend at Silverstone - round nine of the Privilege Insurance British GT Championship, and vowed this is the first of many more top podium slots. The pairing got off to a great start with Geoff putting the PK Porsche on pole position for Sunday's race.

"We knew that we would be strong at this weekends race" said Terry "Geoff had been testing here the week before and had worked hard with the PK squad trying to get a good race set up. This allowed us to conserve tyre wear throughout the race which always seems to be so important in these one hour GT events".

Terry started the race from pole but it was not going to be an easy task for the 33 year old ex-motorcycle world champion. As the green lights came on for the 32 car rolling grid, Rymer's clutch had stuck to the cockpit floor dropping Rymer from first in the GTOs to last. The problem was found by the mechanics after the race to be air in the clutch's hydraulic system. Although it cost Terry time it made him even more determined to achieve his best result for the year.

Rymer had the most enjoyable drive of his GT career so far, cutting through the field to eventually take second place and handing the car to Geoff Lister behind the TVR of Martin Short and Rob Barff. Lister was out of the pit road in pursuit of the TVR but after another eleven laps with Lister catching, Martin Shorts TVR expired giving Lister breathing space to cruise to a long awaited win.

The win was Terry's first in a GT race and his first ever on four wheels. After the race the PK paring were delighted in sharing the top podium slot showing this to great effect by having a monster champagne fight.

"It's my first car race win" said Terry "And only my fourth GT race finish so you can imagine how I feel. I'm racing against some top guys that have been racing for decades, for me to come here and win in a Porsche at a British Championship event is mind blowing. It's like a dream come true. Credit has to go to my team and sponsor's for their support".
