Rymer heads for Sebring

Harlow Motorsport has created a powerful all-British driver line-up for this weekend’s Sebring 12 Hours endurance race with the signing of World Superbike star Terry Rymer and former F3 and Porsche Supercup star Johnny Mowlem joining Mike Youles, 2001 ELMS Champion.

Adam Simmons, team manager at Harlow, was delighted to have secured such a strong all British driver line up. "Johnny knows the circuit at Sebring and will add valuable input to the team and the car." "Mike’s pedigree as an endurance racer together with Terry’s known ability is the ideal line up for debut race this season".

The Sebring 12 Hours is the first round of the 2002 American Le Mans Series and sees Harlow’s American debut. The British team enjoyed a successful first season in international competition in 2001, including victory at Vallelunga in the final round of the ELMS. Since then the team has joined forces with Ricardo Plc and completed an extensive programme of engine and chassis development. As a spokesperson for Ricardo Mike Youles was able to confirm that a second car is now nearing the final stages of completion. "Subject to the team gaining an entry for Le Mans, this is the car that will be used for the Le Mans test and the race," he said. "The guys at Ricardo are really dedicated to the project. In fact, three of them will be flying out to Sebring at their own expense to give their moral support. That kind of commitment is great for the drivers and creates a good feeling about the team."

Youles was confident that Mowlem’s arrival had generated excellent prospects for the coming race. "Johnny’s got a very strong pedigree and completes what is an exceptionally strong driver line-up." Completing the trio of drivers is former bike champion Terry Rymer, "I’m really looking forward to driving with Mike and Johnny, learning the track, and brushing away a few winter cobwebs," he said. "This is such big race for us and it’s going to be tough. We’re up against the best of the factory equipment and the world’s top drivers, but it’s going to be a great experience for the team - and certainly for myself." As well as driving for Harlow this season Rymer is also signed to drive for MAN in the European Truck Racing Championship. He makes his debut in the first round at Barcelona in May.

Sebring International Raceway is situated in Florida, 86 miles from Orlando and 94 miles from Tampa. The circuit is 3.7 miles long very challenging and bumpy. This will be the first time Terry has been there, but he's very much looking forward to the 12 hour race, starting at 12:00 pm on Saturday 16th March.
