Most unfortunate result for Rymer.

Terry Rymer was reunited with his team mate from last year, Geoff Lister for the fourth round of the ELMS Series at Most in the Czech Republic. It was the first time that Rymer had raced at the super fast flowing circuit but that did not stop him from setting the third quickest time in the final qualifying session.

"We have a great race car" said Terry "I'm sure that we will be competitive in the race". That statement was going to ring true as on the race morning Terry was fastest in warm-up (which gives a good indication of the race pace that was to be expected).

Experienced Geoff Lister started the race for the Harlow based team and promptly entered the first corner in first place. After battling for several laps with Wolfgan Kauffman the latter took the lead only to spin out after five laps in front.

"I was not surprised that Kauffman spun" said Lister "He looked as if he might have a big accident on every corner, so we gave him a couple of seconds advantage and sat in there behind him".

So the Harlow pair were back in the lead and looking strong. A further challenge from Richard Dean in the Skea run Porsche looked as if it might have been a threat to Terry and Geoff. Geoff brought the Harlow Motorsport car home and pitted after fifty or so laps which allowed Terry to 'attack' and fight for his first ever four wheel International win.

Every thing was looking excellent for the Harlow team until Terry caught the slower PK car of Piers Maserati. "He began to block me" said Terry "Which is understandable for a driver that is fighting for position, but this guy wasn't even on the same lap, I was lapping him! He must have got orders from the PK team to block me so Robin Liddell could un-lap himself and try to catch us or something".

After blocking Rymer for several laps Robin Liddell slipped past both drivers after Maserati nearly pushed Rymer off the track, this left Rymer still in first place due to the advantage of his one lap lead over Liddell. "I wasn't too concerned that Robin had got past" said Rymer as I knew that I had a better turn of speed than him in the race. All I had to do was to get past this muppet [Maserati] in front of me".

Then disaster struck for Rymer he found himself sitting in the gravel trap after being hit by Maserati.

"I was behind him for quite a while and just waited for him to make a mistake, which I knew he would eventually make judging by the way he was driving. When he did, he went up way too high on an exit kerb and dropped a wheel on to the grass and lost exit speed, so I went passed him on the run up to the last double apex right hander, passed him cleanly and even left him enough room to turn in, then I felt a smash and was sitting in the gravel trap".

So Rymer and Lister's race had been finished all for a driver that had probably been given team orders. Unsurprisingly, PK's number one car won the race with Maserati's car being excluded for the incident of knocking Rymer's car off the track.

The teams next race is 2 September at Vallelunga near Rome, Italy.
